50 Movies I will watch in 2012

It is no secret that I love action movies. When I walk into a movie theatre I expect tonnes of blasts, lots of fighting and little talk. Failure to get this and I will sulk for a week. With this in mind I have compiled a list of movies I will gladly wait in que to watch on the big screen. I usually watch the comedies and other less visually dramatic movies at home.

JANUARY

Contraband

To protect his brother-in-law from a drug lord, a former smuggler (Mark Wahlberg) heads to Panama to score millions of dollars in counterfeit bills.

Underworld Awakening

When human forces discover the existence of the Vampire and Lycan clans, a war to eradicate both species commences. The vampire warrioress Selene leads the battle against humankind.

FEBRUARY

Act of Valor

An elite team of Navy SEALs embark on a covert mission to recover a kidnapped CIA agent.

Chronicle

Three high school friends gain superpowers after making an incredible discovery. Soon, though, they find their lives spinning out of control and their bond tested as they embrace their darker sides.

Safe House

A young CIA agent (Ryan Reynolds) is tasked with looking after a fugitive (Denzel Washington) in a safe house. But when the safe house is attacked, he finds himself on the run with his charge.

This Means War

Two top CIA operatives wage an epic battle against one another after they discover they are dating the same woman.

MARCH

Wrath of the Titans

The sequel to Clash of the Titans. Perseus embarks on a treacherous quest into the underworld to rescue Zeus, who has been targeted for capture by his traitorous son, Ares, and his brother, Hades.

I think this looks better than Clash of the Titans. Guess there is only one way to find out.

John Carter

A sweeping action-adventure set on the mysterious and exotic planet of Barsoom

The Raven

A fictionalized account of the last days of Edgar Allan Poe’s life, in which the poet pursues a serial killer whose murders mirror those in the writer’s stories.

21 Jump Street

A pair of underachieving cops are sent back to a local high school to blend in and bring down a synthetic drug ring.

The Hunger Games

Set in a future where the Capitol selects a boy and girl from the twelve districts to fight to the death on live television, Katniss Everdeen volunteers to take her younger sister’s place for the latest match.

The Pirates! Band of Misfits

Pirate Captain (Hugh Grant) sets out on a mission to defeat his rivals Black Bellamy and Cutlass Liz for the Pirate of the year Award. The quest takes Captain and his crew from the shores of Blood Island to the foggy streets of Victorian London.

APRIL

Titanic 3D

A boy and a girl from differing social backgrounds meet during the ill-fated maiden voyage of the RMS Titanic.

Lock-Out/MS One Maximum Security

A man wrongly convicted of conspiracy to commit espionage against the U.S. is offered his freedom if he can rescue the president’s daughter from an outer space prison taken over by violent inmates.

Bullet to the Head

After watching their respective partners die, a cop and a hitman form an alliance in order to bring down their common enemy.

Stars Sylvester Stallone and Jason Mamoa (Khal Drogo in Season 1 of Game of Thrones)

Safe

A former elite agent takes on a two-tier mission: rescue a Chinese girl who’s been abducted by the Triads, then use a safe combination to outwit the Russian Mafia, corrupt NYC officials, and the Triads themselves.

MAY

The Avengers

Nick Fury and the international agency S.H.I.E.L.D. bring together a team of super humans to form The Avengers to help save the Earth from Loki & his various membered army.

Iron Man + Hulk + Hawkeye + The Black Widow + Captain America = My viewing pleasure. This should be epic.

Battleship

A fleet of ships is forced to do battle with an armada of unknown origins in order to discover and thwart their destructive goals.

Dark Shadows

A gothic-horror tale centering on the life of vampire Barnabas Collins (Johnny Depp) and his run-ins with various monsters, witches, werewolves and ghosts. Based on the cult TV series.

Men in Black III

Agent J travels in time to MIB’s early years in the 1960s, to stop an alien from assassinating his friend Agent K and changing history.

JUNE

Snow White and the Huntsman

In a twist to the fairy tale, the Huntsman ordered to take Snow White into the woods to be killed winds up becoming her protector and mentor in a quest to vanquish the Evil Queen.

I have two reasons to watch this movie. One is Chris Hemsworth. Enough said. The second is Kristen Stewart. I am curious to see her performance outside The Twilight Series….

Prometheus

A team of explorers discover a clue to the origins of mankind on Earth, leading them on a journey to the darkest corners of the universe. There, they must fight a terrifying battle to save the future of the human race.

Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted

Alex the Lion, Marty the Zebra, Melman the Giraffe and Gloria the Hippo join a traveling circus in an effort to get back home to New York.

Jack The Giant Killer

A modern day fairy tale in which the long-standing peace between men and giants is threatened, as a young farmer leads an expedition into the giants’ kingdom in hopes of rescuing a kidnapped princess.

I am not too sure how good this one will be but I’ll still watch it. The lead actor was Beast in Xmen First Class.

G.I Joe 2: Retaliation

When Cobra spy Zartan has most of the Joes assassinated, the remaining Joes band together to strike back.

Dwane Johnson’s presence in this flick has my undivided attention. I hope this makes up for the relatively weak first installment.

Brave

Determined to make her own path in life, Princess Merida defies a custom that brings chaos to her kingdom. Granted one wish, Merida must rely on her bravery and her archery skills to undo a beastly curse.

JULY

The Dark Knight Rises

Eight years after the events of The Dark Knight, the terrorist leader Bane arrives in Gotham City, pushing it and its police force to their limits, forcing its former hero Batman to resurface after taking the fall for Harvey Dent’s crimes.

The Amazing Spider-Man

Teenager Peter Parker grapples with both human problems and amazing super-human crises.

Ice Age 4: Continental Drift

The 4th installment of the “Ice Age” franchise sees Manny, Sid, Diego, Ellie and Scrat frozen solid and accidentally defrosted in a museum in present day.

Step Up 4

Set in Miami and revolves around street dancers

AUGUST

The Expendables 2

Mr. Church reunites the Expendables for what should be an easy paycheck, but when one of their men is murdered on the job, their quest for revenge puts them deep in enemy territory and up against an unexpected threat.

Gone are the days when action heroes were far from pretty 🙂 Cant wait to see this!

The Bourne Legacy

A story centered on a new CIA operative (Jeremy Renner) in the universe based on Robert Ludlum’s novels.

Total Recall

As the nation states Euromerica and New Shanghai vie for supremacy, a factory worker (Colin Farrell) begins to suspect that he’s a spy, though he is unaware which side of the fight he’s on.

Warm Bodies

After a zombie becomes involved with the girlfriend of one of his victims, their romance sets in motion a sequence of events that might transform the entire lifeless world.

Sinister

Found footage helps a true-crime novelist (Ethan Hawke) realize how and why a family was murdered in his new home, though his discoveries put his entire family in the path of a supernatural entity.

The Apparition

A couple are haunted by a supernatural presence that is unleashed during a college experiment.

Passengers aboard a flight across the Pacific Ocean encounter a supernatural force.

SEPTEMBER

Resident Evil: Retribution

Alice fights alongside a resistance movement in the continuing battle against the Umbrella Corporation and the undead.

Dredd

In a violent, futuristic city where the police have the authority to act as judge, jury and executioner, a cop teams with a trainee to take down a gang that deals the reality-altering drug, SLO-MO.

Looper

A killer who works for the mob of the future recognizes one of his targets as his future self.

OCTOBER

Taken 2

Bryan Mills, a retired government operative, travels to Istanbul.

NOVEMBER

Skyfall

Bond’s loyalty to M is tested as her past comes back to haunt her. As MI6 comes under attack, 007 must track down and destroy the threat, no matter how personal the cost.

After the birth of Renesmee, the Cullens gather other vampire clans in order to protect the child from a false allegation that puts the family in front of the Volturi.

An 18th century set story centered on a band of samurai who set out to avenge the death of their master.

DECEMBER

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey

Bilbo Baggins, a Hobbit, journeys to the Lonely Mountain accompanied by a group of dwarves to reclaim a treasure taken from them by the dragon Smaug.

World War Z

A UN representative, writing a report on the great zombie war, interviews survivors in the wake of World War Z. Brad Pitt.

Django Unchained

With the help of his mentor, a slave-turned-bounty hunter sets out to rescue his wife from a brutal Mississippi plantation owner.

The cast includes Jaime Foxx and Leonardo DiCaprio as the villian.

Hunter Killer

An untested American submarine captain teams with U.S. Navy Seals to rescue the Russian president, who has been kidnapped by a rouge general.

Lincoln

The sixteenth President of the United States guides the North to victory during the Civil War.

Les Miserables

An adaptation of the successful stage musical based on Victor Hugo’s classic novel set in 19th-century France, in which a paroled prisoner named Jean Valjean seeks redemption.
