Our friends in Nairobi made us swear to swing by Bora Bora Beach Club in Bujumbura at least once during our stay. Now we are people who keep our word, so we gave in to peer pressure and made our way to Bora Bora on Sunday afternoon. I had already seen some pictures on-line so I knew what to expect. What they failed to mention is that the pictures on-line do not do Bora Bora any justice. The place is simple, vibrant and definitely not what people expect to find in the heart of Africa.
When the car pulls up in front of Bora Bora, this is the sight that meets you.
You and your crew grab your bags with the necessary beach supplies and make your way up the stairs. ..
The door is slightly ajar….
The person in the lead opens it and you catch a glimpse of a whole new realm….
And finally you all step in….
I guess the pictures speak for themselves.
On the left further down the beach is a Heineken sponsered lounge which starts getting busy at about 3:00pm on Sunday afternoons. This is also where the DJ sets up and drops some serious music till late in the night.
There is beach volleyball for those who are keen…
We indulged in all Bora Bora had to offer without any second thoughts 🙂
As the sun was setting, they set up a bonfire on the beach…
People kept on streaming in all afternoon and evening…
This was definitely a Sunday well spent…. We will definitely do it again!
