Pillars of Africa 2: Belgium’s Leen Samyn now Based in Tanzania…

In my opinion, a Pillar of Africa is an individual who is not of African origin but is passionate about the continent. In their day to day lives these Pillars of Africa knowingly or unknowingly do their very best to further Africa’s interest. They may do this in their line of work or as a fun pastime or simply out of habit.

Tanzania based Leen Samyn is my second African pillar after Germany’s Stephan Meves (now living in Kenya.) Leen moved to Tanzania in 2006 where she was inspired to design her stunning Morani collection. She has a background in Fine Arts.

The Morani Collection are leather and beaded sandals made by local Maasai women’s groups around the villages of Arusha, Tanzania.

Her collection is sold in Spain, Mallorca, Australia, South Africa, Tanzania, Kenya and US. I fell in love with the beautiful sandals because I am a huge fun of Maasai jewellery. If you wish to check up on her collection, have a look at her website and Facebook page for more of her fantastic work.
